The Opportunity 

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure that power data-driven decision making across our organisation.

In this role, you’ll work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure our data systems are reliable, efficient, and fit for purpose, transforming raw data into meaningful insights.

This is a hands-on technical role for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, optimising performance, and continuously improving data platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain robust ETL pipelines feeding our data warehouse and/or data lake
• Build and optimise data models to support analytics and business reporting
• Integrate data from multiple sources and formats, ensuring accuracy and consistency
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across pipelines and systems
• Implement monitoring, alerting, backups, upgrades and ongoing maintenance processes
• Partner with data scientists, analysts and stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose data solutions
• Develop and maintain Power BI reporting solutions to support business insights
• Document engineering processes, standards and best practices
• Provide guidance and support to team members where required
• Stay current with emerging tools and technologies, contributing ideas to improve platforms and ways of working

About You 

You’re a collaborative problem-solver with strong technical foundations and a passion for data. You thrive in environments where quality, reliability and continuous improvement matter.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field.
• 5 years of experience in data engineering or related roles, with strong proficiency in database systems, ETL processes, and data modelling.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, or Scala.
• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Microsoft Fabric and distributed computing frameworks is a plus.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is desirable.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI is desirable.
• Hold a valid working with children check or willingness to obtain upon commencement.
