The Opportunity 

We are seeking an experienced Lead Investigator to join G8 Education and play a key role in managing complex and sensitive investigations across child safety, reportable conduct, workplace matters, WHS, whistleblower complaints and compliance concerns.

This is a senior specialist and people leadership role for someone who combines strong investigative capability with sound judgement, procedural fairness, stakeholder confidence and a genuine commitment to safeguarding. You will be responsible for leading and supporting a team of two Investigators, providing day-to-day guidance, coaching, quality assurance and technical expertise.

Working across the organisation, you will lead complex investigations from triage through to conclusion, provide expert guidance on high-risk matters, oversee investigation quality and consistency across the team, and help strengthen G8 Education’s broader investigation and safeguarding frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Lead complex and sensitive investigations from initial triage through to final findings and recommendations.
• Conduct interviews with complainants, witnesses, subjects of allegation and other relevant parties.
• Collect, assess and preserve physical and digital evidence in line with investigation standards and procedural fairness requirements.
• Act as an escalation point for complex matters, challenged findings and investigations requiring additional review.
• Prepare clear, evidence-based investigation reports, findings and recommendations.
• Provide subject matter expertise across child safety, safeguarding, Reportable Conduct Schemes and Child Safe Standards.
• Engage with regulators, government departments and other external stakeholders where required.
• Lead the triage and allocation of new investigation matters across the team.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, quality assurance and technical guidance to investigators and operational leaders.
• Identify emerging themes, systemic risks, recurring issues and control gaps across investigation outcomes.
• Prepare risk, trend and governance reporting for senior leadership.
• Partner with People, Operations, Quality and Safety teams to develop preventative actions and strengthen organisational controls.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of G8 Education’s national Investigation Framework, policies, tools and investigation capability programs.

About You 

• You will bring significant experience managing complex investigations within a highly regulated, sensitive or high-risk environment.
• Prior experience leading a team.
• Strong experience conducting end-to-end workplace, safeguarding, compliance or child-safety investigations.
• Sound knowledge of procedural fairness, evidence assessment and investigation methodology.\
• Experience working with sensitive allegations and high-risk matters requiring discretion and sound judgement.
• Strong investigation interviewing and report-writing capability.
• Experience interpreting legislation, policies, regulatory requirements and organisational frameworks.
• Knowledge of child-safety obligations, Reportable Conduct Schemes or Child Safe Standards will be highly regarded.
• Experience engaging with regulators, government bodies or other external authorities.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, including the confidence to appropriately challenge and influence senior leaders.
• Experience coaching, mentoring or quality-assuring the work of other investigators.
• The ability to identify themes and trends across multiple investigations and translate those insights into practical organisational improvements.
• Strong organisation and case-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and sensitive deadlines.
• A calm, balanced and objective approach when working with complex or emotionally sensitive matters.
• Hold a valid working with children check or willingness to obtain upon commencement.
