The Opportunity 

We have an opportunity for an experienced Facilities Manager to lead the strategic and operational delivery of hard and soft services across a designated portfolio in QLD, SA & WA. This includes managing the full lifecycle of planned, reactive, and project-based maintenance, ensuring alignment with G8 Education’s Facilities Strategy, compliance obligations, and Service Level Agreements. 

You will also provide leadership and direction to a team of Facilities Coordinators and Senior Coordinators, driving a high-performance culture focused on customer service, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement across the G8 network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mentor, Lead and Manage the effective delivery of all Planned, Reactive, and Project-based building works across your assigned portfolio, ensuring all activities meet safety, quality, cost, and timeline standards while mentoring and managing team performance.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits, preparing scopes of work and detailed reports to inform planning, approvals, and delivery of maintenance and upgrade works.
  • Support the planning, development, and execution of both operational and strategic facilities initiatives, ensuring alignment with G8’s Facilities Strategy and broader organisational objectives.
  • Manage the development, implementation, and tracking of maintenance budgets for reactive, minor works, and lifecycle replacement projects, ensuring cost control and transparent financial reporting.
  • Lead the preparation of business cases and submissions for capital improvements, ensuring clear justification of scope, cost, and benefit.
  • Oversee building compliance and regulatory requirements, including proactive management of certifications, statutory inspections, and Assessment & Rating readiness.
  • Ensure accountability for the operational performance and maintenance of the assigned centre portfolio, working collaboratively with Facilities Coordinators to ensure proactive and efficient service delivery.
  • Support and provide assistance for the financial management of the assigned portfolio, including budget, forecasting, cost control, and reporting across all maintenance, repair, and project activities.
  • Provide strategic input into annual and long-term budget planning, identifying opportunities for cost optimisation, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency.

About You 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Facilities Management, ideally within Early Childhood Education or similar multi-site service-based environments
  • Current Australian Drivers Licence
  • Proven experience managing hard and soft services, contractor performance, and compliance across diverse property portfolios
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams, with a focus on capability development, stakeholder engagement, and service delivery excellence
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in managing budgets, quoting processes, financial reporting, and cost control
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines across reactive, planned, and project works
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and confidence in using digital work order and asset management systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across all levels of internal and external stakeholders
  • A practical, flexible, and solutions-oriented approach to work, aligned with business objectives and team culture
  • Hold a valid working with children check or willingness to obtain upon commencement.
