This is a rare and diverse role that will see you embed and lead the way with your ECE sector experiences and expertise to lead, shape and navigate the way to best in class Safety, Quality and Compliance. We’re offering a rare and diverse opportunity for two experienced Early Childhood Education (ECE) professionals to lead and support best-in-class practices in Safety, Quality, and Compliance. In these key operational roles, you’ll use your sector knowledge to shape and champion a strong culture of excellence across the service.
This is a unique, off-the-floor position where you’ll play a vital role in enhancing daily operations and improving overall service quality. Initially offered as a 12-month contract, there is a strong likelihood of extension based on performance and organisational needs.
About Us
Community Kids Cessnock is a state-of-the-art service that prides itself of excellence when it comes to safety, quality, compliance and practice. Our children enjoy delightful indoor and outdoor play areas, rooms equipped with the latest age-appropriate technology and learning resources, and a range of activities. At capacity our centre caters for 104 children with operating hours between 6am to 6pm.
Support the Centre Manager in the day-to-day leadership and efficient operation of the centre
This is a full time 38 hours work week, but with the flexibility to work reduced hours, or across a reduced work week – we are flexible to suit you!
Act as a trusted advocate, promoting and embedding strong health, safety and wellbeing practices OR strong quality, practice and compliance across our service,
Lead compliance with the National Quality Framework (NQF), National Quality Standard (NQS), and regulatory obligations
Implement and review Quality Improvement Plans (QIPs), action plans and centre safety practices
Mentor and coach educators and early childhood teachers on safe, reflective and compliant practice
Build educator capability in areas including supervision, emergency response, WHS, food safety and child protection
Work collaboratively with the Educational Leader to drive a safe, inclusive and high-quality learning environment
Contribute to audits, support training in child safety and contribute to safe physical and emotional environments for children and staff
About You
You’re a committed early childhood leader who brings a proactive mindset to both education and safety. You lead with purpose, support your team with empathy, and are passionate about embedding a culture of excellence in your service.
Essential Criteria:
ACECQA-approved Diploma or Bachelor of Early Childhood Education
Experience in a leadership or mentoring role in Early Childhood Education and Care with previous ACM or Centre Manager roles.
A strong working knowledge of NQF, NQS, and safety regulations
Confident in coaching and mentoring educators in safety and compliance practice
Current Working with Children Check, First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis, and Asthma certifications
Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
Ability to build strong relationships with families, teams and external partners
Desirable:
Formal training or experience in workplace health and safety or risk management
Experience in coaching adult learners or supporting provisionally registered teachers
Current Australian Driver’s License and flexibility to travel as needed
