Dr. Melinda Miller
Dr Melinda Miller is the Pedagogy and Practice Manager at G8. Mum of a gorgeous 18-year-old young man, she is also an early childhood teacher, researcher and consultant who has lectured in early childhood education for more than 10 years at the Queensland University of Technology. Melinda has taught, researched and published in the areas of child development, cultural inclusion and sustainability education. Her research has been published in national and international journals, and she is a two-time recipient of the Springer Publishing Best Paper Award for publication of empirical research.
Jane Dunstan is G8’s Practice Development Manager. As a member of the G8 team for more than six years and mum to two incredible young girls, she is passionate about ensuring our centre teams are supported to live out their calling, nurturing children’s learning and growth. Jane leads the design and delivery of meaningful practice development programs that serve to honour each practitioner’s pedagogy, enhance the quality of our practice and showcase the important role of our educators, teachers and leaders in enriching children’s lives.

Medically trained child psychiatrist and member of the Australian Association for Infant Mental Health, Dr Henderson is one of Australia’s leading parenting experts and a sought after contributor to TV, radio and print media worldwide. Our G8 Education team members have access to Dr Kaylene’s Raising Good Kids course, which focuses on supporting you to develop deep and meaningful relationships with children through practical and kind strategies. Our current program, Teaching for Tomorrow, has been developed exclusively for our teachers. Developed by Anthony Semann, this program takes teachers on a journey of educational discovery to enact change and deliver exceptional outcomes for children and families. The program introduces our teachers to a developmental framework that unpacks the key domains across the teaching profession. From there our teachers dive deep into compelling topics that focus on pedagogical transformation, thought leadership and curriculum development. Between workshops, teachers participate in collaborative action learning groups, exploring practice and work through new concepts and ideas.
As an ECT, I find the frame works such a positive and powerful tool to guide and support our practices, beliefs’, ongoing learning and overall teaching – both with the children and also with our co-educators. As an ECT who has worked in Early childhood for such a long time it is refreshing to have a document that is specifically designed for our role, reinforcing our value and commitment to our role. It reassures me that I am a well rounded teacher and have a lot to offer but also know there is always more to learn which is what I love about this sector. The room for personal and professional growth is endless. The T4T course has really provided a great opportunity for ECT’s to come together and not only learn more in depth about the frameworks and the influence it has on our teaching but also to network and make contacts we did not have before.

Being a part of T4T workshop has been an absolute pleasure and a great opportunity for all G8 ECT’s to come together on a platform which commits to the growth of teachers in regards to their pedagogical practices and establishing a culture of reflective practices.
